HUMAN PENTACLE SPELL
This spell is designed for use by a group of five people. I originally designed it to protect a piece of land that was in danger of being developed. The land boasts beautiful maple trees, apple trees – two groves that are as magical as they come. The developers are from another country and they hadn't even seen the the land. They bougth it, sight unseen, because the area is primed for expansion. Since we cast the spell in 1991, the lots across the street have moved down and the house next door is gone, but that five acres still stands. I hope it lasts far longer than I will.
To protect an area of land, divide the parcel with each person assigned one section, with one person assigned one section. The 5 ritualist walk the borders, each person spending several hours and getting to know it. When time is up, gather a brunche from a bush or tree in your area and
head back to the meeting place which should be in the center of the parcel of land, if possible.
Once in the center, clear a space and kindle small fire. Be sure you have plenty of water on hand to put out theflames. Luy the branches down, taking care to keep them separate, and form a small circle near the fire.
Cast a circle and invoke the elements. Invoke the Earth Goddess and the Homed God.
The Priestess says:
We are here to protect this land, to set up a Guardian who will walk its borders and oversee the woodlands (prairie, etc.). We ask
the Lord and Lady to watch over this land, to protect it from harm and development. We ask that the trees stand tall, the Earth steady and that the waters flow freely.
Now form the human pentacle (see illustration below).
The Priestess uses her right hand to grasp the left hand of Person three. Person three uses their right hand to grasp the left hand of Person five. Person five uses their right hand to grasp the left hand of Person two. Person two uses their right hand to grasp the left hand of Person four. Person four uses their right hand to grasp the left hand of the Priestess.
You might want to practice this part before the ritual, but it will Work!
When all hands are clasped, the Priestess says:
We combine our wills, we combine our might
We call on the strength of day and night
Protect this land from all that harms
Magick bind with this charm.
Should any tear the land asunder
Lei lightning flash, crash of thunder
Machines that rip and destroy the land
Will not the power of this charm withstand.
Developers shall overlook this Place
They will always find a better space.
God and Goddess walk these trails.
The spirit of Earth shall prevail!
By Flame and Earth, By Wind and Sea
As our wills combine, so mote it be!
The person with the strongest voice should begin the chant, and the Priestess will monitor the energy, building the cone of power until it peaks.
Mother of the Earth, Father of the Trees,
Protect this land, we ask of Thee!
As the chant peaks raise all hands to the sky, breaking open the pentacle to release the energy, then drop to the ground and earth the power.
Once the power has been released move to the fire and pick up your branch. In turn, describe the beauty and strength of the area which you walked and ask that the Guardian of the Land watch over it. Then cast your branch into the fire and watch it burn.
When the ritual is over do not devote the circle or the elements. Let them rest as the Guardians of the land work their magic. This spell, of course, works best to protect your own land, but try it for endangered areas. It can only help.
